HEARTS, or Health Education and Awareness through Resources for Seniors, is a social service initiative that will primarily focus on introducing senior citizens to digital platforms: with the aim of placing the ability to care for their own physical and mental health back in their own hands. It will endeavor to increase the prevalence of digital literacy among the elderly, and in so doing, provide them with some of the tools necessary to improve their quality of life in a rapidly digitizing age.
It will attempt to provide a more holistic approach to geriatric care by introducing them to not only health-related digital services but also platforms for entertainment and social interaction. The purpose behind this is to ensure that our clients are equipped with the tools to manage their own day-to-day health requirements and reduce reliance on family members or other caregivers. Further, introducing them to social media communities could serve the purpose of providing them with vital social interaction, while streaming services might help them entertain themselves to a greater degree, thereby improving their mental health.
